De fiecare data cand vin in New York imi place sa redescopar orasul. Evit sa iau taxi sau uber, si prefer sa merg pe jos pe fiecare strada din centrul turistic, apoi sa exploatez imprejurimile. Si, ce ma fascineaza de fiecare data este ca, pe cat de impresionant este, pe atat de bine stie sa se vanda.
Cand vii de la aeroport si intri in Manhattan realizezi enigma contrariilor. Imprejurimile nu sunt deloc spectaculoase, mai ales primele 3 strazi. Apoi, incepand cu Lexington, grandoarea exuberanta a cladirilor monstruoase se dezlantuie.
Priveliste din Central Park
Pentru cei care nu stiu, Manhattan-ul este brazdat de strazi paralele si pependiculare, numerotate in ordine crescatoare – din cand in cand, strazile mai importante au si nume. Asa ca: Madison, Park, 5th Avenue si Broadway sunt preferatele mele. Hotelul nostru se afla acum langa Time Square, pe Broadway, si putem vedea o mare parte din oras chiar din camera.

Ce ma atrage cel mai mult la constructia acestui oras este contrastul colosal intre zgarie-norii moderni si cladirile vechi care par marunte pe langa aceste turnuri spectaculoase.
Catedrala St. Patrick ramane ca o opera de arta in mijlocul turnurilor de zeci de etaje, fiind un punct de atractie pentru turisti.
Insa, ce mi se pare mie cel mai impresionant, este luxul de a admira tot acest spectacol din mijlocul naturii.
Central Park este de nelipsit aproape in orice film: oamenii alearga, se plimba, iau masa, stau pe iarba, citesc… Este fascinant cum te poti conecta cu natura in acest paradis al betoanelor care tasnesc maiestuos in jurul parcului.
La intrarea in parc sunt trasuri cu cai in care poti sta relaxat si sa te lasi plimbat prin intreg parcul. Din pacate, trebuie sa rezisti maret mirosului :).
Atractia contrastelor este la fiecare pas:
Insa, cu siguranta, locul meu favorit din intregul New York este Parcul Bryant. Aflat intre strazile Fifth si Sixth, este o oaza de liniste si frumusete ireala, plin de flori, presarat cu mese unde poti lua micul dejun sau savura cafeaua de dimineata. Este rupt dintr-o poveste in inima orasului plin de zgarie-nori.
